Strawberries, Blueberries & Peaches in Sparkling Wine Dessert Recipe

February 28, 2018

I’ve previously made a few different desserts that were somewhat similar to this one, so when I saw this recipe, I was all over it. The others I made were outstanding. There’s just something to be said for a bowl of wonderfully flavorful berries and peaches. Add to that, some sugar, lemon and sparkling wine and I’d say you have a win.

The Recipe

I’ll be honest with you here. You can use any type of fruit you want for this recipe. I tend to lean towards the berries because I simply love their taste. They also look really great on camera, which doesn’t hurt when posting photos of the dessert on a website such as this. Cantaloupe, watermelon, apple; these are fruit varieties you could add to those I’ll suggest below.

For this recipe, I decided to go with blackberries, blueberries, red and green grapes, strawberries and peaches. The thrill of the whole thing comes with the addition of the triple sec, lemon and sparkling wine. Those three ingredients really add a zing to things. Overall, the entire dessert was delicious and so easy to put together.

Ingredients

Serves: 6 to 8

2 Cups Blackberries
2 Cups Blueberries
2 Cups Strawberries, Trimmed and Sliced in Half
1 Cup Red Grapes, Sliced in Half
1 Cup Green Grapes, Sliced in Half
2 Cups Canned Peach Slices in Water, Drained and Cut in Half
2 Tablespoons Sugar
2 Tablespoons Triple Sec
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Fresh Mint, Minced
1 Cup Sparkling Wine (any sweet white variety)

Step-by-Step Instructions

I’d like to thank America’s Test Kitchen for their resource called The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook. I found this dessert in it and it’s outstanding. They have so many great dessert recipes in this book and I’m excited to prepare each and every one of them in the future.

Prep & Rinse the Fruit

Go ahead and prep the fruit as they are listed in the ingredient section. Place everything in a large bowl as you are working.

Sliced Fruit

Then, fill the bowl with water and swirl the fruit around it to thoroughly clean everything. After that, pour the contents of the bowl into a colander and shake it somewhat so the water drains out as much as possible.

Add Remaining Ingredients

Transfer the fruit back to the bowl and add in the sugar, triple sec, lemon juice, mint and sparkling wine. Mix everything together well.

Added Ingredients

Place the bowl in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors of the fruit to meld together with one another.

Plate & Serve

When you’re ready, divide the fruit between bowls and serve. If necessary, you can sprinkle more sugar on top of the fruit. Enjoy!

The Final Berry & Peach Dessert

See? I told you this was an easy one. It’s basically prepping the fruit and then adding a few other ingredients to it. It’s so good though, so I’m sure you’ll love it. If you decide to try this recipe out, please let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!

About Jay Gaulard

My name is Jay Gaulard and I'm what I like to call an "inexperienced chef," if that's not an oxymoron. I initially decided to immerse myself into the world of food and cooking in May of 2015, when I began growing, in earnest, my first garden. The garden produced a wonderful yield and with some newfound confidence, my hobby of learning about what I eat took shape. Currently, I'm enrolled in an online cooking school and am quite active with the culinary community. I primarily write posts about what I research and learn along the way.
