Delicious Honey, Garlic & Lemon Baked Salmon Recipe

December 3, 2017

This is the second Thanksgiving recipe from the trio that we enjoyed this past holiday. As I mentioned in my last post, I took many recipes from this website to prepare much of our holiday dinner, but there were some that I pulled from other resources. The cranberry sauce was one such recipe and this is another. I really need to get this salmon recipe out there because it’s truly incredible. I can’t wait any longer.

The Recipe

I went grocery shopping yesterday with the express interest in purchasing what I’ll need to bring the remaining recipes to you. Luckily, everything was available for purchase and I didn’t run into any issues. I always get nervous when I’m so focused on ingredients because having just one of them unavailable delays the entire process. Regarding the salmon for this dish, I was pleased to see that it was $2 per pound less than it was when I purchased it for Thanksgiving. That’s always a nice surprise. It’s still expensive, but the Maine salmon always is.

This is a tremendously wonderful tasting dish. It’s got tons of flavor that is derived from not only the salmon itself, but the honey, oregano and thyme glaze. Also, this recipe is super simple to put together and to execute. It’s tough to screw the process up if you follow the easy directions. Finally, being enveloped in aluminum foil and baked, the salmon comes out of the oven as tender and as moist as it can possibly be. I simply can’t get this type of result when preparing this fish any other way.

Ingredients

Serves: 4

4 8-Ounce Skinless Salmon Fillets
Salt
Ground Black Pepper
1 Large Lemon
6 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
2 Tablespoons Honey
3 Teaspoons Garlic, Minced
1 Teaspoon Dried Thyme
1 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
2 Tablespoons Parsley, Chopped

Step-by-Step Instructions

I’d like to thank Delish for this recipe. I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about it, so I’m sharing it with you, just as it was shared with me. It’s perfect.

Pre-Heat Oven

Arrange one of your oven racks so it’s in the middle position. Then, pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.

Prep the Baking Dish

Line an 8×13″ baking dish with foil. Then, slice the lemon thinly in enough slices to cover the entire bottom of the dish. I purchased a jumbo lemon to take care of this. I had more than enough slices.

Sliced Lemons in Baking Dish

Prep the Salmon

Make sure the salmon pieces are skinless. If you need to, trim the skin off yourself. Then, season both the bottoms and the tops of the fillets with a few pinches of salt and pepper. Arrange the salmon on top of the lemon in the baking dish.

Prepare the Glaze

In a medium sized bowl, combine the butter, honey, garlic, thyme and oregano. Mix well.

Honey Glaze

After that, pour the glaze over each piece of fish evenly. Last night, I prepared only two fillets of salmon. For this recipe, you’d pour the glaze over all four pieces.

Bake & Broil the Salmon

Use another piece of foil to cover the baking dish. When the oven is to temperature, add the dish to it on the middle rack for 12 minutes. After that, remove the piece of foil that’s covering the dish and then broil the fish on low for another two minutes. When that’s complete, remove the salmon from the oven and turn off the heat. Everything should be cooked perfectly. If it isn’t just yet done, add it back to the oven under the broiler for another minute. Salmon is tricky this way. It can cook perfectly or become overcooked in a minute’s time, especially when it’s uncovered in the oven. Use a fork to test whether it’s done or not.

Plate & Serve

Use a spatula to remove each salmon fillet, along with some lemon slices, from the baking dish. Plate, serve and enjoy.

The Final Honey Glazed Salmon Dish

This is truly outstanding. I can’t wait for you to experience the flavor. The garlic works so well with the butter and the honey. It’s awesome. If you do try this recipe, please let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!

My name is Jay Gaulard and I'm what I like to call an "inexperienced chef," if that's not an oxymoron. I initially decided to immerse myself into the world of food and cooking in May of 2015, when I began growing, in earnest, my first garden. The garden produced a wonderful yield and with some newfound confidence, my hobby of learning about what I eat took shape. Currently, I'm enrolled in an online cooking school and am quite active with the culinary community. I primarily write posts about what I research and learn along the way.
